Introduction: My name is Ann Marie Collins and I am a flute teacher located in the Falls Church, Virginia area. I teach both in-person and virtual flute lessons.
With over 15 years of teaching experience and over 20 years of flute expertise, I am a classically trained flutist who earned a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University, studying for four years as a member of the JMU flute studio.
My lessons are customized for individual students of all experience levels, focusing on personal goals. Lesson materials can be provided and shared virtually depending on the needs of the student.
My teaching style focuses on celebrating small successes to make lessons fun! I strengthen my students’ weaknesses by giving them the building blocks of smart practicing, showing them how to listen for and strategically tackle problems on their own. This accelerates their progress long-term as they learn the art of practice, self discipline and accountability.
My repertoire encompasses everything from Baroque to Classical to Romantic styles, Irish and Rock techniques, Modern compositions and more. My qualifications and expertise were developed through years of numerous recitals, auditions, weekly lessons, ensemble performances, and master classes. I hope to work with you soon!
