FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I’m not the cheapest but I am among the best. When it comes to this work, you do get what you pay for. See note below regarding special circumstances. I am very generous with my time and don’t believe in 4 or 5 different levels of editing help — I have 2: editing and simple proofread. That’s it. When I edit your work, I edit it fully as I would my own. You will get a highly polished manuscript from me. Special Circumstances: All that being said, for works that I feel will offer a substantial benefit to humanity, I will negotiate my price if the author has limited financial means. All of God’s messengers deserve to be heard, not only those who can afford a high-end editor and writer. Lastly, I offer a 30-day WARRANTY period upon completion. If you find any mistakes in that period, I will fix them free of charge.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with a free 30-minute introductory consultation via Zoom or phone. If hired, the client sends me their material to edit in MS Word format. I proofread, edit, provide feedback, or whatever it is that the client has asked for with "Track Changes" turned on in MS Word. I return the document along with any additional comments/suggestions to the client. We work iteratively like this until the work is done. EDITING APPROACH FOR RESUMES: I have a proven format I use to organize a resume into concise, readable chunks. Most HR people will spend about 2-3 seconds scanning a resume, so the writing needs to be carefully written for both people and computers. Having spent most of my career in IT and web design, I know how computers and search engines think. Having spent most of my career as a consultant and a writer, I also know how people think. EDITING APPROACH FOR PROSE & CHILDREN'S BOOKS: I use an efficient and effective editing style that is used by major publications, magazines, and newspapers. I do as much or as little as needed for you. PROOFREADING: Tidy up grammar, spelling, punctuation, typos. Also check for inconsistencies and ideas that might have gone astray during heaviest stages of the edit.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
GENERALLY: I've spent 35 years in the business world writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting all manner of content for internal uses and for client work. I've also designed dozens and dozens of websites. In addition, I also volunteered time with students and non-profit organizations for the same. FOR RESUMÉS: I’ve written hundreds of resumés for myself and others, for print/PDF and LinkedIn/Indeed. As a hiring manager, I’ve also read many resumés and know what works and what doesn’t. I’m pretty good at it. FOR CHRISTIAN WRITING: I am a Christian and have studied and continue to study the faith. I've written many articles, essays, and poems with Christian themes.
