FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I'm Karen Prante, owner of A Second Me, and I know how hard it is to get it all done. I have an 11 year old daughter and lost my special needs son in 2012. Nathan had Cockayne Syndrome and needed constant care. Due to chronic illness, my aging mother moved in with us as she was unable to live on her own. She passed away a few years ago. Now, my mother in law who suffers from Alzheimer's is with us after some discomfort with the idea of moving to assisted living. I worked for a Fortune 500 company when all these life complications arose and learned quickly that I couldn't do everything for my family - nuclear and extended. I decided to set up A Second Me to provide the help and services I needed to other families in similar situations. A Second Me is dedicated to helping our Northern Virginia neighbors. We look forward to serving you!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
While A Second Me is one of the lowest cost errand services out there, we know that an hourly charge can be hard to "total" if it's not sure how much time is required. We're happy to work with you to manage the number of hours we spend on your request - and we assure you that our work is worth it! When you compare a full service firm like A Second Me to a CraigsList errand runner or a senior health care agency who may charge a bit less, you'll know straightaway that we're worth the money. We're reliable, have back up, are bonded/insured, we provide services that specialty agencies don't provide, and we're flexible. No need to arrange for minimum numbers of hours or wonder if we're going to show up. We're your Second Me - we do what you want, when you want, and how you want. We got your back!
