Some suggestions would be to get references and a free estimate if possible. You might also want to ask some questions that you are already familiar with the correct answers to and see if the person you are considering hiring has answers that closely resemble what you already know. Keeping in mind that sometimes there are multiple correct answers to a question (i.e. what is a good antivirus product).
