- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes...I get continuing eduction credits every year as part of my licensure requirements and as a way to continue to grow and develop in my field.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I first started out in business and although I was successful in business endeavors, what really motivated me was the heart-to-heart talks I would have as people around me began to open up to me and share challenges they were facing. People seemed to be drawn to share things with me that they didn't necessarily feel comfortable enough to open up to others. I began to see a pattern emerge and a true desire to help people began to shine. It was then that I decided to go back to school and focus my efforts to get trained as a professional counselor.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I always encourage people to find a good "fit" with whoever they are going to work with. You need to feel a sense of connection and that this is a safe and knowledgeable person to talk to.
