Introduction: If you are looking to enhance your talents as a pianist or a singer-songwriter, or perhaps you are just beginning to explore music and want to take piano lessons. Or if you have already studied, performed, or written music and lyrics, I can work with you and help you grow and develop, and together, we can find the experience that is right for you at this time in your life. As a younger musician I became a concert level, accomplished pianist with extensive performance experience. I studied with the former dean of the Juilliard Graduate School. After graduating from the University of Utah, I relocated to New York City and found my way into the music scene, first as a writer, singer, and keyboard player in the "jingle business" (music for advertising). and then as a songwriter for the record business. For over 25 years, I have had hundreds of my commercials on air, and have also written music for television, radio and film. I became more focused on songwriting as time went on, and began getting records placed while working with a boutique production house. I wrote songs by myself and with other writers for well-known artists, and soon was writing with those recording artists and producing records with them. I have had 30 songs recorded and released, some gold and platinum, and several top ten records. I write in all styles with emphasis on Pop, R & B, Rock, Country and even Classical. I have a home recording studio and a Chickering console piano. With a desire to share my talents and experience, I began teaching a few years ago. Because my areas of expertise overlap, I can help you in many ways. For example, you may come to me for piano instruction but also would like help with songwriting. Or I can mentor you as a singer songwriter, working on your style, piano accompaniment, and vocals. My eclectic background will help me inspire you and identify your strengths, and find a path that is unique to your talent and ability. I provide a positive, creative environment with constructive feedback. Although studying music involves practice and commitment, I believe it should be a joyful experience. All ages and levels are accepted.
