Introduction: I am a classical guitarist and lutenist in San Francisco offering guitar lessons to all skill levels and all ages. If you have never even touched a guitar and want to start to learn the basics or if you have been playing for quite some time and want to continue to cultivate your craft, I can assist you in whatever your goals may be.
While I am a classically trained musician myself, I have experience with a variety of styles of music, including classical and Spanish guitar, folk, traditional music, and acoustic finger-style to name a few. Simply contact me, and we can discuss your stylistic aspirations and what you hope to accomplish with your playing.
I am located in the Outer Richmond and teach from my home, but for a small additional fee (which is completely negotiable and depends on your location), I can travel to you.
Along with guitar lessons, I can teach musicianship (reading music and ensemble playing), music theory, continuo playing/accompanying, and improvisation in a variety of styles.
About me:
My name is Caleb Clement. I am a student of classical guitar performance with an emphasis in early plucked instruments at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I am in my last semester of study for a bachelor of music degree. During my time at the Conservatory, I have studied classical guitar privately with Sergio Assad (one half of the world-renowned Duo Assad), and David Tanenbaum, as well as lute, Baroque guitar and continuo with Richard Savino.
I have played with a variety of both small and large ensembles, including the Conservatory Guitar Ensemble and the Conservatory Baroque Ensemble under the direction of Corey Jamason.
I perform on quite a few different instruments. My primary classical guitar is an 11-string archguitar, made for me by local Luthier Alan Perlman. In addition to that instrument, I play a variety of period instruments, including Renaissance Lute and Archlute (for Baroque solo music and continuo playing), Baroque guitar, and vihuela.
