Our mission is to offer temporary shelter and care for relinquished, stray and abandoned Dalmatians and to place as many as possible into caring and responsible homes.
Our team also strives to create support and awareness for all animals' humane treatment and to end animal overpopulation through promotion of neutering and spaying and education.
Over the past several years and thanks to people such as you, we have been able to save numerous dogs. Please help us save even more by becoming a foster home, volunteering your time, or opening your heart to a new family addition by adopting.
Visit our website if you desire to adopt one of our dogs, and fill out an application online. We can also be found on Petfinder.

After I lost my best friend of 13 years, Daulton, my first Dalmatian, my husband & I found ourselves looking at DRSWV's website. We ended up adopting Sparky back in September of 2009 and we went back in October, 2010 for Delainey and again in November, 2010 for Gabrielle! All the dogs are great and get along with each other. We were quite lonely after Daulton passed to the Rainbow Bridge, but now, we have never ending love from these three wonderful dogs and it wouldn't have been possible without people like the volunteers at DRSWV! Check them out! There's a best friend waiting for you too!

I adopted Memphis in January 2009. I think he rescued me more than I rescued him. DRSWV is such a wonderful rescue to adopt from and be a part of their family.

We have adopted 2 wonderful Dals from DRSWV, Loco in 2007 and Chip in Jan. 2011! The organization has become a second family to us and thanks to DRSWV we will always have spotted dogs in our life! Debi and everyone on board here puts their heart and soul into caring for these wonderful dogs who without them may have not got a second chance at life. Thank you all so much for doing what you do!

A. What I like most about my volunteer work with the Dalmatian Rescue is meeting all the dogs that come in and finding them loving forever homes. Not all of our dogs come from the greatest of situations so it's very fulfilling to make a difference in their life as well as an adopter's life.
A. Some of the most common questions we get concern the history of a particular dog at the rescue - where did it come from, was it an owner surrender or was it a stray. We also get questions on the overall health of the dog. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered when they come in to the rescue if they aren't already. The dogs also get up-to-date on their vaccines prior to adoption. We also get asked it we ship or transport dogs. The answer is generally no. We feel that if an adopter is willing to come to us to make the adoption official, no matter what distance, we believe our dogs will be going to a great home. We've had adopters drive all the way from Canada to adopt!
A. There are so many wonderful dogs in shelters and rescues all over the country that need loving homes. Many are owner surrenders for one reason or another, but also many are abused and neglected. Please consider adopting a pet instead of buying from a pet store or breeder.
A. We have different donation fees for different dogs up for adoption. For example, a purebred adult Dalmatian is $200. For an adult mixed breed, the donation fee is $150. For pure Dal puppies, it's $250 and for mixed puppies it's $175. While this doesn't cover all our costs at the rescue, it does help us out a lot.
A. What do we need the most at the Dalmatian Rescue? We are in desperate need of loving but temporary foster homes for our dogs. Foster homes can provide much needed socialization for the dogs. It helps get them used to being in a home and family environment, get them used to being around children and other family pets. This helps get our dogs adopted into forever homes much quicker with this socialization. We provide food and vet care for the dogs that are in foster care. All you need to provide is the home, love, and attention. Please contact us if you are interested in fostering.
