- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1) Only hire a certified coach. You can ask to look at a copy of their certification notice/certificate if you like. 2) Only hire someone with some previous experience. Yes, it does take experience to gain experience, however anybody trying to offer a service like this should have had some experience coaching at least a high school or college team at some point. 3) Preferably hire somebody who's competed before in your goal distance for which you're training, or a very similar distance. That way, they have a lot better idea what the process is like for you, and will understand you better.
