Our daughter has taken piano (and briefly, violin) lessons with Ms. Betz for several years now, starting when she was 4 (she is 8 now). We transferred from another music academy that did not seem to know how to teach young children. We couldn't be more pleased with both the process and the results through Ada Piano Academy. Ms. Betz is very patient and an excellent teacher. She tailors her curriculum to the particular learning styles of her students. Ms. Betz adjusts her teaching as the children mature. With our daughter, for example, Ms. Betz knew just the right time to switch from using little stuffed animals to encourage playing and practice to requiring more self-motivation and responsibility. We are very pleased with the amount of music theory that is included with the lessons, as well as musical education about different genres and musicians. She also allows kids to experiment with different instruments. Ms. Betz is always thinking of fun ways to encourage the kids to practice (like fun holiday practice challenges that can earn a prize), and when they struggle, she thinks of different ways to teach the information they need to learn. She is also always available for questions and offers advice when home practice is a difficult. Ms. Betz offers multiple concerts throughout the year in a very relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere. She makes the concerts a lot of fun for the kids, including raffles and other entertainment to create an environment where the kids are comfortable and do not get overly nervous about performing (just a healthy dose of butterflies). Ms. Betz is very punctual. Lessons start and end exactly on time. She also allows flexibility in scheduling. Our daughter has developed quite the bond with her, and we are so grateful to have another trusted adult in her life!

My son has been taking music lessons at Ada Piano Academy for more than three years. Ms. Betz (owner) is a great instructor, customizing her approach to best engage the interest and talents of each student. She is extremely organized and sets clear goals for our son while providing us with detailed communications that allow us to follow and support his progress. I offer my highest recommendation to her and her program -- any child would benefit from working with her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are paid monthly for the number of lessons in that month. Invoices are sent via email one week before your tuition is due. You may pay with cash, check, bank bill pay, money orders.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Feel free to connect by email or phone. Either way, I like to gather information about you and/or your child to see what kinds of goals you have for music lessons. For younger children, I like to ask the parent to tell me about your child's personality and why they want to take music lessons. I will find you a time and day that fits your schedule with an openings I have. We do the enrollment process over the internet. You may begin immediately if an opening is available. I will give you a lesson book name so you can run to your local music store, or order online, to have at your first lesson. At your first lesson, we begin to learn immediately and learn a song or two.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Began music/lessons age 8. Have been in many groups performing from age 8 to current. Taught at 20 local schools with music programs and many music stores private lessons. I have been highly recommended by current/past students, student parents and other musicians since 1983.
