FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I actually started out as a painter, but I realized I wanted to offer more. I love helping empower women and getting them to see how beautiful they really are (because, really, often women are not told this enough!). I am also passionate about overall health of skin, and how makeup can really affect that. So, I decided to learn and receive training on makeup, makeup application techniques, and color theory in order to begin my career as a makeup artist. Since then, I have gone independent with my business and have been focusing on treating my clients more like friends than clients. I feel honored to work with them, and enjoy seeing their dream event/wedding come to fruition.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are a lot of really great makeup artists in the Pittsburgh area, and each has a certain style and expertise. Make sure that style meshes with yours, and that you get along with the vendor. Planning is work, but dealing with a vendor shouldn't be. Also, ask about the training and experience they have had, and if you could see some of their work before deciding on hiring them.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Clients should have an idea of the feeling that they want for their event/wedding, and find vendors that they feel comfortable with. Make sure the vendors can understand what your needs are and that you click with them (go with your gut!), because you'll be having these vendors participate in important moments in your life. Make sure to learn what their style is, and if it connects with yours.
