FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I research new products and trends every month. It is important to stay up to date on trends. I also attend classes and educational trade shows every year to learn new techniques. I will continue to attend classes throughout my career.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I knew I wanted to be a makeup artist since I was 12 years old. I worked at a makeup counter to gain experience that I need with different skin tones, face shapes, and skin imperfections. After 2 years at the counter I decided to take a plung into the freelance world and be my own boss.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a makeup artist make sure they use a variety of brands and not just one brand. If a makeup artist tells you that she/he only uses MAC then move one to the next because each brand has their hits and misses. Another thing to look for is how clean the artist's kit is. Make sure that the artist sanitizes all of their products and tools as well as scoops out products instead of double dipping.
