I offer english tutoring for ESL students or native speakers. Would you, or someone you know, like to become more fluent and effective in speaking or writing American English? I am a certified and experienced teacher of English as a Second Language. I am also a professional writer and editor. With many years of classroom and individual teaching and coaching experience, I am qualified to instruct students in: * essential grammar * formal and informal English, as well as slang, idioms and more * spoken and written English * business English and social (party) English * practical, clear and effective writing * vocabulary development * or any language subject in which a student would like to be tutored. I have taught English at all levels from beginner to intermediate to advanced, with students from countries including Taiwan, Brazil, Korea, Spain, France, China, Germany, Iran, and Japan. I truly, sincerely enjoy the experience of teaching a subject I know and love to people who have the desire to learn. I charge $30.00 per hour for two-hour lessons, or $35.00 per hour for lessons of one and one-half hours. (Discount rates are available for lessons with two students.) I strongly recommend two-hour lessons at least twice a week. I usually meet with my private students in one of the many study rooms at the San Francisco Main Public Library, which is centrally located very close to BART and Muni transit lines at Grove and Hayes Streets, but I am open to meeting with students at a café or other public location which might be more convenient. I am available mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week.
