Introduction: I absolutely LOVE what I do, and have been told time and time again that it shows in my work. I continually take classes and workshops to stay in the top of my profession. Additionally, I create many unique finishes that can't be found elsewhere. I use professional grade, environmentally friendly products, And most important, I have been told I am a great LISTENER. I do what my clients want me to do to make them love being in their home. Some artists want to force their ideals upon the client, and then everyone loses. I am not pushy, and truly believe that the client always comes first. I love the variety of projects I am asked to create. One day I can be painting a mural in a baby's nursery, and the next day I might be applying a 5-layer multi-textured finish in a living room. I love that each job is unique, and I love the wonderful clients that entrust their home to me. I love that some clients know exactly what they want, as much as I love that some clients don't have a clue, and rely on me for color consultation, and the selection of decorative finishes for their environment. Each day is a surprise, and I love every minute of it.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I am constantly updating my education. Although I started out doing walls, I have expanded my expertise to include any surface you can think of. Whether it be cabinets, furniture, floors, tiles, backsplashes, fireplaces, garage doors ... if it's not breathing, it can be painted. When the opportunity presents itself, I travel out of my area so I can bring back unique ideas and designs to my clients.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    Although I was always creative, I never had the opportunity to pursue art. I had taught myself how to sew, and became so good at it I made bridal party and wedding gowns. Then in 1998 I tried my hand at a decorative finish in our new bathroom. The contractors said I was better than any professional they had seen over the years. They told me I should quit my day job. Well, it took a few years, but that's exactly what I did. I started out learning as much as I could, and doing work for family. Eventually their friends saw it, and wanted me to do work in their homes. Soon designers learned of me, and I started to work with them. Over the years I have been very blessed to be able to build a successful business based solely on referrals and my reputation.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    The client needs to know whether the artist is a professional. They should know how long they have been in business. And they should be able to look at a big selection of pictures and samples so they can assess the artist's experience and ability. There are some novices who steal images off the Internet and try to pass them off as their own, so you really need to learn as much about the artist as possible. A good artist will have plenty of references they should be willing to provide you with.
