FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My studio pricing is very simple and always adaptable to every budget. I base our photographic commission and assignments on a basic fee for professional time, plus the second professional photographer for each wedding day. Then you calculate a charge for the estimated time you will spend on post production work. There is a direct correlation between the number of hours you spend shooting and the number of additional hours you'll spend before the computer doing post production work. The amount of time necessary for the coverage requested determines the total price of the base commission. In addition, the scheduling of additional events such as an engagement session, save the date session, bridal portrait session, bridal shower, after the wedding day session, trash the dress session, or other event will also factor into the price of the package, but again this is customized to the individuals needs and budget. The products desired factor heavily into the final price. There exists a huge selection of product lines these days and they range from basic to premium artisan quality. From a dozen or more photographs, to hundreds in a custom made layout coffee table wedding album and from an 8" x 8" size album to a 16" x 20" album, or larger, and from photographic matte or glossy paper, to canvas, or metallic finishes, as well as satin, pearl and cotton. The sky is the limit. But if you have a set budget, we will happily discuss with you what are the very best options within your budget. Our goal is to deliver the best images and products possible within each individual budget. Unfortunately, professional photography commissions and assignments are not one price fits all calculations. All of the above must be assessed before a final price can be Reached, and many a bride and groom become frustrated with this fact. they want to know the price up front, without sufficient information or having made their choices. We are ready to provide you with examples and suggestions for your budget and to work with every couple. We also provide you with a free, no obligation, hour long wedding photography consultation at our studio to help you with this often complex process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I stay up to date with trade publications, my association with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and The Wedding and Portraits Professionals International (WPPI), as well as with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and my individual pursuit of studies in particular new developments in Adobe software, Nikon equipment development and the newest in lighting equipment and light modifiers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out in photography as a young teenager. I fell in love with vey aspect of photography, technically and artistically. After several years of intense learning in NYC's institute of photography, I knew that photography would be a life long study. I made it a habit of taking every possible photography course I could in High School and College to further my knowledge base. I also loved taking art appreciation and history courses and apply what I learned to my photography. Eventually I found mentors that helped me in the types of photography that most interested me and I learned everything I could from them too. After more than thirty years of practice, I finally started to photograph weddings professionally. I consider wedding photography to be the gorilla workfare of my industry, with me as a special forces operator, ready for anything and everything. Since then I have made it a point to constantly reinvent and educate myself in all the latest developments in photography to keep my art and craft sharp and critical. As a professional photographer, I have no illusions that I can be the right photographer, with the right style, for everyone. There are innumerable tastes; but what I do is insure that I strive to be the very best at what I do in the styles and areas of photography that I practice.
