FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing doesn't really have a system. Every estimate is based on how long it will take (labor), what materials will be needed, and overhead (which includes insurances, office costs, and the salaries for those who prepare your "free" estimate).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father and his father before him were structural engineers. We grew up hearing about all of the construction projects they were involved in. Very often, blueprints were spread across the dining room table, and I would look at them and try to picture the project. When we were driving along the road, my father would show us different buildings and structures that they had built. Still, when I travel down 295 to Washington, I see "Daddy's bridges". It only seemed natural for my brother and I to build things. He started first, and I kept his books to keep him out of trouble with the IRS. Over the years we have grown together in the industry. We love our work, it's in our blood!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Over the years we've done everything in residential construction. We used to have three major additions going at once, but the economy isn't what it used to be, so we have adapted. Right now we're involved in a couple of basement finishing projects. Bathrooms are also big right now, including bathrooms to accommodate a physical handicap. We have done quite a few interior stairway railings as well.
