What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
To stay up with what the latest rulings are, and what is working in the Courts, we read caselaw, all day, every day. Knowledge is power for a paralegal. But, it has to be the proper and correct knowledge.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
We got into this line out of necessity. There was frivolous non-suit brought against one of us, and after paying $40,000.00 to an unethical, unscrupulous attorney, only to find that they attorney we had been paying, was trotting and stalling, and selling us out, we figured that we had better learn as much as possible. The only way to get anything done by the attorney, was to know the laws and rules of the court anyway, so, it was inevitable.
