Introduction: I take all the time necessary to learn about my clients' needs. This includes learning 10 asana poses for people with fibromyalgia, poses for lumbar issues, such as spinal stenosis, offering hand-outs and relevant information. I also give them more time when necessary at no extra charge. As this is all I do (teach yoga), I have the time to further my education in all areas of the yoga practice, from anatomy to chakras to movement principles. I love the fact that I can help people with their goals, whatever they may be. I think the best part of what I do is when someone heals their body and frees themself from pain, whether it be physical or emotional. What a privilege to be a part of that experieince!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, in fact I am registered for Kripalu's 23rd Annual Yoga Teachers Training scheduled for October 14-17, 2014.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Great question! I wanted to get out of pain! After 2 years of instense nerve pain from a lightning strike many years ago, and being on 13 pills (7 of them narcotic), I was seeking an alternative way to heal. I came to yoga through Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old science from India.After a year of practicing 5 days a week, I enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Empowered Yoga, although I had no intention on teaching. Within a year of graduating, I was recommended for a position at Newark Parks & Recreation on a Thursday evening. The following morning, a teacher at EY called me and asked if I would be interested in that same position! Synchronicity was at work. Within one moth I decided to heal my body and stop all the medication; within 2 months I was painless and drugless! If I could do this, so could others. Thus, my reason d'etre!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find someone who will focus on YOU and YOUR issues, not someone who just deals with modifications in general.
