Introduction: I am fairly patient with my students. I try to motivate and challenge them, but yet I'm understanding of the fact that all students have different skill levels and therefore, move at a different pace. Not all students will grasp the same information right away, so there is a need for patience and empathy with their struggles and desires to play guitar. I am excited when someone enjoys playing as much as I do, and if they are as passionate about it, and learn new and exciting things. Sometimes certain students have mental or physical handicaps that hinder them, and it's important to approach them individually and give them patience and flexibility in teaching them. Meeting new and interesting people and watching them progress and succeed in meeting their goals with playing the guitar. It's exciting to see people finally break through and grasp a new skill or technique. Teaching and motivating students is an exciting part of what I do with the guitar lessons. I also take an individual interest in each student's development in their playing.

Bob is always on time and plans ahead. He is considerate of the class in planning by incorporating suggestions of students for preferred genre and/or specific songs to learn. He is patient and kind. He reminds us as students that each person makes his/her own progress which he expects to be varied. (I am currently a beginner student.)

“I started taking Bob Wingate’s class at Rufty Holmes Center because the name of the class was “Absolute Beginners”; and that’s what I was. I wanted very basic training – learning simple chords. I accomplished that and more. My intention has never been to play for the public but to play for myself and for or with close friends. I love playing songs that I’m familiar with and singing along – still just playing basic chords and loving it. For those that want to learn more and go further into “guitarism”, Bob offers classes for those as well. Thank you, Bob, for encouraging and helping me to learn exactly what I wanted to learn.” --Sandi Lauzon

I attended my first sessions and follow up classes with Bob. He taught me several basic chords and lots of fun songs. It is amazing how many songs you can play with just a few chords. Bob has a passion for guitar music and is enthusiastic about passing it on to his students in as many ways as possible. In addition I have made new friends who are playing on my same level and we can share our enjoyment. Thanks, Bob, for getting me started , and helping me check off another item on my "bucket list" - playing the guitar!!

I highly recommend Bob as a fantastic guitar teacher. Bob's passion for the guitar is evident in how he teaches and is excited to see his students succeed and enjoy playing. I'm a long distance student in another state but he makes sure I have the information I need by either online or phone. I wanted to learn the guitar for many years and glad my goal of playing has come true. It's never too late to learn. I gave him five stars because he's outstanding. Thank you, Bob!

I really enjoy having Bob as my guitar teacher. He is very good at explaining things in a way a new player will understand.
