Introduction: HPstudios is not only a voice studio, but an immersion in what it is to be a singer. Most vocal studios will provide an hour a week of simple exercises to be performed at ad infinitum until the student miraculously sounds like Luciano Pavarotti. This approach is destined to fail because it approaches vocal technique in a one dimensional way, the way that might have worked for that particular teacher, but rarely works for the student. At HPstudios, we are devoted to custom tailoring the lessons to fit the needs of the students, by creating a specialized lesson plan to accommodate different learning styles, voice types, and the emotional needs of each singer. The voice is not an instrument separate from the body like a piano or a violin, and as such it needs a teacher capable of understanding the psyche of the singer and address not only the physical, but mental hurdles that arise on one's musical journey. In this way the teachers of HPstudios are able to diagnose and resolve all the problems that arise and let voice be truly free. Another strong drive of HPstudios is to produce singers that not only possess the ability to sing well, but also have a working knowledge of the anatomy of the voice and have a basic knowledge of the fundamentals of music theory. We wish to eliminate the stereotype that there are singers and then there are musicians. It is our aim to produce well-rounded musicians who know how to sight read, properly analyze sheet music, and deliver a performance with poise and artistry. Furthermore, in the same way an instrumentalist keeps his instrument tuned and in good repair, a student of HPstudios will have a working knowledge of how the voice functions at an anatomical level. This knowledge will provide the singer with firm understanding of why we teach the way we do, and what functions our exercises serve. The teachers of HPstudios have successfully taught dozens of students and possess a passion for the craft.
