- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If the location is within New York City I charge $250 for a one hour shoot which includes all fully retouched digital files on USB for you to use as you like.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss what they are hoping to capture in the photoshoot such as their favorite expression/feature on their child, family life, 'daddy's special thing', a pet's favorite game to play. I also like to discuss what the photograph will be used for, such as holiday cards, wall features so outfits/props/settings can be coordinated appropriately. Particularly with children it is important to know what makes them comfortable. The best shots are captured when the child forgets all about the camera and is just having a great time. Favorite toys, a new dress or just having daddy behind the photographer can make a world of difference.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began my photography passion whilst working as an elementary teacher. Each week I would strive to capture various classroom activities, projects, excursions, discoveries as they happened to document what we did. I found children such challenging ever-changing subjects with a camera however I soon became aware that these were the moments parents enjoyed seeing the most! I have continued to develop my photography since moving to the US through the children and animals I have worked with.
