FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally I schedule a consultation over coffee or tea, so we can meet face to face and see if our perspectives align enough to consider working together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I finished my first 200 hour training in 2009, completed an intermediate training in 2011 and then my 500 hour training in July 2014. In 2016 I became certified to teach mindfulness - both through meditation practices and as an approach to daily life. As well, I frequently attend workshops, take other classes weekly, and am always reading. The well of wisdom and knowledge in the yoga field is bottomless! I am always learning and sharing.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in a sales job that I kinda hated, despite having a fantastic and supportive boss. I came to yoga through classes at my fitness center. I had two "a-ha!" moments with the same wonderful teacher. First, she read a quotation from Sean Corne something like "being inauthentic is exhausting, being your true self is effortless." I started quietly crying and couldn't stop for about 10 minutes (made that first down dog kinda rough!). Months later, she announced that the fitness center would be hosting a yoga teacher training the following year. My heart absolutely leaped and did a back flip and it just came to my head "YES! That is what I want!" I had never thought about teaching yoga before, and at some point had my doubts about the feasibility of that, but once I committed fully, I can't imagine my life without this means of serving.
