When hiring a henna artist, the first thing you should ensure is that they are using 100% natural henna. There is no such thing as "black henna." Ask them for ingredients in their paste and where they get the henna paste from. If it's hand mixed at home, you're all set! If they import the *paste* from India/Pakistan or got it off-the-shelf of a local ethnic grocery store, you should be more concerned as natural henna paste has a very short shelf life.
