About Jan Blencowe Fine Art

Evocative, poetic landscape paintings with a 19th century feel.

The subtle mystery of light is my fave subject. Sunlight, ordinary and nevertheless extraordinary, forms my paintings. The redolent half-light of dawn, twilight and sunset transport the viewer to realms beyond the seeable. Whether painted in the studio or on-location, these landscapes go beyond simple impression and representation and dig into the deeper streams and spiritual pulse that sustains all things.

The canvas is both a mirror and a window for me. Through the window of the canvas, I produce a poetic and graceful vision of nature. Veils of translucent color and luminosity invite quiet contemplation. Each painting is also a mirror reflecting celebration and joy, a visual sonnet of beauty and grace, a journey for the soul, and a landscape illuminating the longing of the heart.

I focus on evocative light, soft edges and rich textures that reach in to cause peace of heart and mind. Through the harmonization of tone, color and shape, paradise is not lost but realized, remembered, hoped for on the canvas, and resurrected in our mind.

I do acrylic paintings on linen in a variety of sizes that will bring the tranquility of nature into your home or workspace. Enrich your life through original, heirloom-quality fine art.
