We recently purchased a property that needed some updating. I was referred to Michael at Macaluso Designs by a friend of mine who had used his services to redo her master bathroom. He got back to us quickly and we scheduled a consultation. All in all, we ended up remodeling all three bathrooms, the kitchen and the home office. We were super pleased, not only with the results, but also with the cost. Compared to another estimate we got he was not the cheapest but we feel you definitely get what you pay for. Michael's experience and quality design provided us with excellent results.

We contracted Michael to design and oversee the remodel of our condo in Laguna Beach. The remodel was considered a comestic remodel since none of the changes required HOA approval. There was considerable painting, including all shutters and walls,replacement of carpet, new wood flooring in the main living area and input on furniture and blind replacement. Michael was always available with suggestions and with his personal time. He handled the subcontractors in a very professional manner and was very cognizant of our timetable and budget. We felt very strongly that Michael had our best interest and goals in mind at all times rather than pushing a particular agenda or product. We are very pleased not only with the results of Michael's efforts, but also with his personal and professional demeanor.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are several ways to work based on the type of work to be undertaken. The simplest is an hourly rate. A flat fee can be negotiated based on a specific scope of work or a "turn key" design and purchasing contract for larger projects is available.
What types of customers have you worked with?
New home design specification, remodeling of existing homes, general decorating needs.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Experience matters. Seek someone who has successfully completed the scope of work you are seeking. Do not choose a professional base on a fee only. It may cost you in the end with poor results, wasted time and added expense.
