Introduction: I am a 4th-generation woodworker specializing in solid oak porch swings and rockers. Every piece that goes into my furniture is hand-selected red/white "face" or 1st-grade lumber. I plane the lumber to precise measurements, and cut each piece by hand. This is not a mass-produced swing; it is made one at a time by me. Some of my lumber takes over a year to cure out in the elements. This feature guarantees your swing will never warp because I will plane the lumber down to remove all that does warp. You won't find another company that will go through so much to build a lasting piece of furniture. I use 1 1/4'x2' solid oak main supports. This is what your swing will be built on top of. I then use 3/4' thick arms, slates, and the top/bottom caps. My slates are 1-1/2' wide. I also use all zinc hardware and oak plugs when I countersink the screws. My biggest pride is that I build heirlooms, not just swings. My swings, with some effort, could and should last a lifetime, not just a couple of years like you see all over the internet and major retail stores. My biggest compliments have always been that they are so dependable and very comfortable. "Quality never goes out of style."
