Durwood "DJ" Heinrich, Ph.D. is a motivational speaker, safety consultant, writer, commercial pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor. He spent most of his 41-year aviation career as the Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot for two major corporations. Prior to joining those companies, Dr. Heinrich served in the U.S. Air Force as a T-38 Master Instructor Pilot and had brief tours as an airline pilot and a jet charter pilot. As an Airline Transport Pilot, Instructor Pilot, and Pilot Examiner, he has accumulated over 14,000 accident-free flight hours. Aircraft recently flown as Pilot-in-Command include the Bombardier Global Express, Bombardier Challenger 604, and the Dassault Falcon 2000 aircraft. He also served as the Central Regional Representative for a national business aviation organization that has been assisting businesses in becoming more efficient, productive, and successful since 1947. In this capacity, Dr. Heinrich had responsibility for nine states. Dr. Heinrich holds a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master of Science Degree in Management and Administrative Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He is also a graduate of the University of Southern Californias Aviation Safety and Accident Investigation School. Dr. Heinrichs book is entitled ATTACK OUT OF THE SUN: Lessons from the Red Baron for Our Business and Personal Lives. He gives presentations on Manfred von Richthofen regarding how we might apply lessons learned from the Baron to our everyday lives and businesses. In addition to his book, Dr. Heinrich has published dozens of papers and conducted numerous presentations, seminars, workshops, and webinars on Manfred von Richthofen and a variety of aviation safety-related issues.
