FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I help clients notice and change their postural habits that are interfering with their optimal postural support through hands-on manual work and verbal guidance. I meet clients wherever they are and find a way to connect with them. For example, if someone has chronic back pain and struggles with pain at the computer, we will address this and discuss specific strategies to increase awareness with this activity. Additionally, we will ultimately aim to increase the client's awareness not only at the computer, but throughout his or her day, because there's a reason that habits are so pervasive and stubborn -- they're habits, and they're meant to get us from Point A (where we are) to Point B (where we want to be). This holistic way of dealing with pain, sluggishness, lack of focus and other common issues leads to longer-lasting, more global change in the client.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The Alexander Technique is generally taught one-on-one or in small groups, so it's important to feel at ease with your instructor. Feel free to ask the instructor for a trial lesson to determine if it's a good fit, pedagogically and personality-wise. And, most of all, enjoy the journey! Learning the Alexander Technique is a great adventure into greater freedom, awareness and ease.
