The Farnum Family—from the Missouri Ozarks—is an active home-school "home grown" family band consisting of six children, all performing, singing and promoting American and European-originated folk music from the early 1800s through mid-1900s and much more.

With influence gleaned from bluegrass, folk, gospel, Irish, old-time, novelty, cowboy and Western standards (and obscurities), their diverse blend of music is styled in a near-traditional string-band manner, with 5-string banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and upright bass, supported by piano, penny-whistle and occasional harmonica, tenor banjo and washboard!

Their homespun and entertaining presentations—be it for theater concert, church congregation or school assembly—include appropriate academic dialogue and instrumental demonstration to captivate audiences young and old.

Performing the music of our Christian and American heritage throughout the Midwest, they are available to travel to your event whether local or long-distance, coast-to-coast or beyond!

From amongst our family, we can also teach 5-string banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin & upright bass.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We hope you will help support (Christian) homeschool and family music in your community. We would like to be a major influence in that field (by God's Grace). Please contact us to discuss any further questions or specific interest.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Experience in our particular area of entertainment & music ministry has been learned from many years of performing in front of audiences of diverse backgrounds, including church, festival, school assembly, private party and more! However, music lessons were certainly essential in building foundational confidence.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you been involved in your field?
How much experience do you have?
Why should we hire you for our event?
How far can you travel?
What do you need to do the best job possible?
And, of course...
Can we afford you? What do you charge?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. What date will your event be held?
Will this be an indoor or outdoor event?
If necessary, can we offer you any meals or other amenities? Lodging or accommodations?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our music ministry and/or energy of entertainment will speak for itself!

We have performed at many local & regional churches, plus at Silver Dollar City and the Ozark Folk Center, plus many other family music venues.

We are also "Approved" by the Missouri Arts Council and listed on their Touring Artists Roster.
