Introduction: Goal oriented, individualized lesson plans are created for every student. This is because at the studio we believe that students should learn what they want to learn and have a blast doing it! For example, some vocal students are interested in learning more about harmony and music theory, while others are more interested in performing. Also, some piano students want to learn classical piano techniques and play classical music, while others want to learn vamping and sight reading so they can accompany singers- or even sing themselves. The lesson plans guide student practice between their weekly lessons. The lesson plans also help students advance in their instrument. At the studio we create our own curriculum maps, rather than follow along with pre-made music book curriculums. This allows our students to become well rounded musicians. I love working with and getting to know people. One lesson will be a 5 year old beginner piano student, while the next will be an 18 year old voice student who is preparing for college auditions. The variety of people I teach throughout the day makes each day interesting. I also enjoy seeing my students succeed at accomplishing their individual goals.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Yes, I am a member of the Music Teachers Association of California. Each year there is a convention where teachers share ideas, learn new techniques, and keep up with technological advances. This year alone I have completely updated my studio based on advice that I received from this convention.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice is to look for someone who not only has knowledge about their subject, but also passion for teaching. I have come across many music "teachers" who love performing and are wonderful musicians, but tend to zone out or get frustrated when they are trying to teach others. Look for someone who describes themselves as a teacher first, musician a close second.
