- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am connected to the most successful organizations and groups in our industry. I partner with the best wedding planners, dj's, musicians, and wedding professionals. They help me do the best job I can. As a pastor, I have connections that help me serve our couples in their marriage.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Because of the ministry I was in 20 years ago, I performed a lot of funerals all over the state. Many funerals are the same over and over. Some denominations use the same scriptures,.......the same story, by the book. I became increasingly frustrated with the standard sermons that so many pastors used, and I committed to really investing in the families I was serving, getting to know their loved ones,...even if I hadn't known them in life. I started designing and writing ceremonies that celebrated their life, openly, honestly, and real! People loved my work. I still have people show up on my doorsteps at our farm and church requesting my services. Soon after I performed Tom's funeral, his brother asked me to do his wedding. That led to 3 other weddings in their family. The rest is history,...I use the same style in designing and writing weddings. Personal, real and honest. Really, i get to be a part of the two greatest celebrations of life,...who you marry and the legacy you leave!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
80-90 Percent of the weddings that I perform are outside of the church, at some of the most beautiful and dynamic venues in Iowa. The weddings that I serve at may be small or large, but each one is important.
