FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most rates are negotiated depending on portfolio usage, duration of shoots, etc, but my base prices are $60/hr for shooting and $90/hr for editing. All else aside, I need to make at least $150 plus expenses to keep the lights on.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I shoot everything from weddings, birthdays, graduations, engagements, and senior pictures to full scale, thousand item inventory management photos, full length TV shows, and product photography/videography.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask three questions. How do you choose the photos that the customer will actually get back or get to see? Many photographers will only let you choose through a hand full of photos, this is especially bad for things like weddings where YOU should be the one to choose what you want to get edited and printed. Do you get to keep the printing rights to the photos? Many other photographers will keep the rights to your photos and make you pay over and over again every time you want to get a picture printed. This is good practice for only one person, the photographer taking your money. What if I just want all the unedited photos so I can keep the memories and get them edited/printed later? Another way a lot of photographers try to make you pay over and over is to make you pay for every picture they release. While this DOES help keep bad photos that may have been taken from surfacing under their name, it also completely removes your ability to make your own decisions about how you want your memories to be captured.
