- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A family friend (who also lives in Chicago) needed someone to care for her sweet and elderly Labrador, Max! Through many trips to the dog park I met other pet owners also looking for walkers or someone to check in on their beloved pets during busy work weeks/seasons. I realized that not only does caring for pets make me happy but perhaps I could start earning a living as well :)
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Dog walking, overnight pet care, feeding & watering, cleaning (not grooming).
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Get to briefly know the person taking care of your pet face-to-face! Make sure they're the type of person you want caring for your pet(s). It will also put your pet more at ease if your pet care provider meets the him/her with you around. This way there is no shyness or major adjustment period to meeting a stranger when the job starts.
