I had a very nice appointment with Heather. Our cat was having serious bowel related issues, and Heather was able to pinpoint the cause and come up with a specific diet. It made an incredible difference, and continues to. I especially appreciated Heather's background knowledge of animal nutrition. I would recommend Heather for anyone having similar issues with their furry family members.

Heather has been such an amazing wealth of knowledge and support. My fur baby has been dealing with an on-going eye issue that was only treatable via drugs from our Vet's view. With Heathers help we have been able to maintain his health and decrease his need for his eye drops by about 95%. I am so grateful for Heathers work!

Heather is simply amazing. She has a depth of knowledge that she brings to her consultations that is stunning. More importantly she is willing to share that knowledge with pet owners in order to help them make informed decisions. I contacted Heather when I first started looking at feeding my two Bichonís a raw food diet. They both had developed skin issues and the vets were only interested in prescribing steroids and antibiotics to combat the problem. Finally fed up with treating symptoms and not problems I decided to look into nutrition. However, the information available can be overwhelming and confusing. Heather stepped in and helped me navigate the confusion. She also recommended supplements based upon each dogs unique needs. Additionally, Heather does not just give a consultation; she follows-up with her clients to ensure that the diet and supplements are working. One of my Bichonís in particular has been very difficult to treat. Heather is continually working with me to tweak diet and supplements to provide relief for my little guy. Whether you are combating specific issues with your pet or are just looking to provide better health and nutrition overall, I highly recommend Heather and Balanced By Nature.

Heather has my dog's best interest at heart. She will go the extra mile to make sure you and your pet are taken care of, whatever your financial situation may be. I have taken my dog to the vet only to have him put on more antibiotics and he continued to experience the same health problems. Heather's care has helped my dog stop the vicious cycle of infections and finally heal his skin. I cannot say enough good things about Heather, she has been a life saver for my dog!

As a professional dog trainer, one of the first questions I ask clients are, "what are you feeding your dog?" because nutrition plays such an important role in dog behavior. I have my clients consult with Heather and we find that most of the behavioral problems alone have been resolved with better nutrition.
Heather is very passionate about helping animals and she puts 110% into everything she does. She also saved my puppy's life. When I adopted Teddy at 8 weeks old, the fourth day we had him home, he stopped eating and was very lethargic and started to throw up. I called Heather and she literally dropped the phone and was over at my house in 10 minutes. She drove me and Teddy to Dove Lewis, where we discovered he was sick with the Parvo visrus, as well as infected with my parasites. Teddy battled with Parvo for a week and at times we didn't think he would makes it. Heather remained in contact with use everyday, and helped us with finding ways to help Teddy recover. Teddy survived and when he came home, he had a horrible time eating. Heather helped Teddy with a meal plan, and Teddy began to eat and recover back to his feet within a week. Because of the Parvo, Teddy's tummy isn't perfect, and Heather knew just what to do help him with his diarrhea, and to help him grow into the happy, and healthy pup he is today. Because of Heather, Teddy is a beautiful, strong, happy, and healthy dog. We are internally grateful for her. She is also Teddy's God Mother.

When we rescued a FIV+ cat with skin issues, a consultation with Heather was suggested by another pet lover friend. After filling in a new patient form, Heather came to our house and met Ziggy. We discussed food and supplements to help clear up his skin and boost his immune system. She even brought a few food samples so we could see which one he liked. Immediately she had us start giving him a raw diet and followed up with some supplements. There was so much information on the internet and I was confused as was what was best for Ziggy. Heather sorted it out for us and Ziggy is doing great. His skin is much better and seems to have much more energy. I would recommend Heather and her wealth of knowledge to anyone who is looking for assistance in an natural and nutrition based plan to either heal their pet or just get them on the right track for a healthy life.

Thanks Heather!

Our cranky cat of 11 years began defecating in random places when we moved into a new house. We chalked it up to personality plus change of environment and put up with the carpet cleaning and laundering for four more years. The problem worsened over time. Two different vet offices refused to see her unless she was sedated which was not an option us. So when Heather came into our home and stopped all our problems in one visit, you could understand how amazed and relieved we were. Heather helped us understand our cat and provided many options in treating her behaviors. We don't call our cat "cranky" anymore. She doesn't hide all day and hiss at the dog. We have area rugs now. Our quality of life has much improved. I only wish we could have found Heather sooner!

I've called upon Heather's services on more than one occasion and will continue to do so. I am confident in both her practical and intuitive skills at providing the nutritional advice and herbal supplements for my animals. I know my 2 cats are healthier and spunkier due to her services.

I would highly recommend Balanced By Nature to anyone looking for pet nutrition consulting! I went to Heather for advice about my frenchie, Moxie who had been scratching a lot and also developed a very bad gas problem. After talking to her about Moxie's diet, she brought me some samples of different foods and took the time to explain the the pros/cons of commonly used ingredients in dog food and why she felt these products might be a better choice than what I had been using. Moxie LOVES the new food, has stopped scratching and the best part - the gas is gone! I think it's safe to say Moxie and I are both happier with her diet now. Heather has always been very generous with her help! She's very knowledgeable as well as a great person to know. Thank you so much, Heather!!

Heather was a lifesaver when Miles, my 12 lb Yorkie was hit by a car and suffered multiple fractures as well as other internal injuries. She came to my house and took great care in providing treatment suggestions (both those she could provide as well as tips for doctors and other treatments). I highly recommend her.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I would make sure that the professional I sought out for advice had solid experience and knowledge in companion animal nutrition. Educational dog & cat nutrition information put out by large corporations often do not have the pet's best interest in mind. Pet food ingredient lists are often misleading and intentionally confusing. Pictures of young, healthy dogs & cats and meats & veggies on the front of the food bags are often what sells the product. It is my job to get down to the truth of the food and the company it comes from, and educate my clients to make the best choice they can for their dog or cat. After all, what you feed your dog or cat is what they depend on for their health.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My services stand out from others because I have unique experiences in the pet health field. These work experiences have made me a pet food expert. Nutrition is often overlooked with dog & cat health, yet it is the foundation of their health! Optimum health has always been available through Nature, but when we fail to give our pets what they were meant to thrive on, they get sick with all sorts of illnesses. I can help get your pet back to what Nature intended, and find the balance they need through nutrition. It's really that simple.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. One of my favorite things about my job is watching chronic skin issues clear up after transitioning the pet to a balanced, raw food diet. I also love helping people with cats who have litterbox issues. The cats always know that I'm there to help them and they immediately open up to me. My results are very rewarding for everyone involved.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. One of the most commonly asked questions is "Can you help me transition my pet to raw, because I've tried it before and my pet didn't like it/threw it up".

Yes, I can definitely help transition your pet to raw food. It might take a little digestion support and/or a simple & gentle raw food diet. Most pets who have been fed a mainly processed diet (not raw), have become deficient in many ways and therefore, have digestion challenges and have difficulty with change in diet. I will support your pet's digestive system before and during the transition to make sure that the transition goes as smoothly as possible. Remember, healthy digestive & immune systems should be able to handle diet changes.
