Introduction: In a designer-saturated market with everyone tightening their budgets, I believe the value I represent is an ideal Client-Designer relationship for your project. With both design and hands-on construction experience, an unmatched zeal for architectural design, sustainability implicit as a professional ethic, and low overhead rates, it is my intention to stand-out on each of these accounts as your preferred designer. My passion for design is fueled by: 1. A direct professional relationship with a Client and facilitating their vision for the project, with the understanding that every project is unique; 2. A comprehensive design process, informed by the Client's vision, with fascinating design avenues of exploration and study; 3. Proposing possible design solutions to the Client and observing their excitement as their project begins to take form. 4. Meeting or exceeding the Client's expectations from a design-, deliverable-, timeframe-, and cost- perspective. 5. Following-up with the Client after the project is completed to see how the space successfully promotes their desired lifestyle.

When I decided to remodel the front porch of my 1913 Minneapolis home, Brandon's involvement served to elevate the project from renovation to redesign. He listened closely to my desires and budget, collaborated through the sketch and idea phase, and achieved every project goal with his unique design. Brandon re-imagined the porch with wider, sturdier window bays and clerestory that reflect, unify, and enhance the existing geometry. At the same time, his design celebrates and remains faithful to the period of the architecture. As a result, my home has a unique look that continues to receive rave reviews from friends and visitors. People are surprised to learn that the porch was redesigned, because it looks original to the house. Working within my budget and constraints, Brandon's work certainly added value to my home. Brandon has an exceptional, creative intellect and a deep knowledge of architecture, environment, and design. He is modest, timely, and very easy to work with. I would recommend Brandon to anyone seeking to add value to a design project.

Brandon is an amazing designer and architect. His vision and ideas transformed my traditional "story and a half" house into an urban dream home, all with limited resources and square footage. He dramatically expanded the use and value of my interior space (think lofted rooms, well-thought out closets and dormers, etc.). There's a "wow factor" now anytime someone new walks in my front door. At the same time, the house all looks and feels cohesive. I would highly recommend his talents to anyone.

I recommend Brandon completely and without reservation. He led the design and construction of a green roof, studio, and large elevated deck for us. Despite the complexity of the design Brandon came up with solutions to make everything work perfectly. The project turned out even better than we hoped and even on budget. We are planning on doing an addition in two years and hope to work with him again. He is talented and efficient and was an absolute pleasure to work with. Brandon is just really, really good.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In order to maintain licenses and certifications, and more importantly to stay abreast with best practices, I attend frequent continuing education seminars, lectures, etc. in addition to reading professionally-related materials daily. These pertain to communication with clients, design trends, sustainability, project management, new technologies, construction material testimonies, and other aspects enabling superior service.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential projects large and small, including new single-family houses, remodeling, and additions are most typical and are quite satisfying. However, I also enjoy the variety other project types present, such as remote get-aways, back yard cottages, recreational amenities (saunas, rooftop gardens, passive solar shelters), neighborhood retail, interpretive centers, places for worship, etc.
