Mr. Hug was very prompt in responding not only to my initial request for attorney's assistance, but in any questions I had thereafter. Handled the matter quickly and efficiently. Thank you!

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Recently, I was retained by a family on behalf of their daughter that had been wrongfully convicted and was serving a lengthy prison sentence. She had no criminal record, was a hard-working young woman and did not do what she had been accused of doing. By the time I had gotten involved in the case, two attorneys had been retained but had been unsuccessful. In the second year of her incarceration, she found me and within six months, she was home. It was the greatest feeling I have had in my professional life -- using my experience and skill to set another human being free from unjust confinement is indescribable and it underscored for me, that I had chosen the right profession.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

You are not shopping for underwear, so price alone is not the most important consideration when retaining an attorney. You want to investigate them a little more exacting, look to see what type of experience they have, whether they have a reputation in the community and, if when you call you will be able to speak to them. While price is certainly a factor -- as nobody wants to pay an attorney -- it should never be the top factor because, the cost to you for hiring the wrong lawyer based upon price can cost you in spades.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

That it is more an art than a science. It is very difficult work and a good attorney carries all of their clients and their cases with them wherever they go. While there are many jokes about our profession and many people have stories of unsavory types, for the most part, we are very hard-working and compassionate people. Most people got involved in the profession to help people in their hour of need.
