Shane Portman Screen and Print Writing

Introduction: I am a writer with a background in sketch and improv comedy. I just finished writing for the first season of Tumbleaf, Bix Pix Entertainment's new stop motion animated series, due to premiere on Amazon Prime this summer. I cut my teeth on the windy streets of Chicago, taking classes at Second City and graduating from iO Chicago's long-form improv program where I was selected to perform on one of their house teams. I also wrote and performed sketches for a nationally touring group, The Animal Club, for 7 years. We performed at Caroline's On Broadway, The Austin Film Festival, The San Francisco Sketchfest, Seattle Sketchfest, Chicago Sketchfest, The UCB NY Theatre and The Second City's Donny's Skybox. I published a collection of short stories, Allister Cromley's Fairweather Belle (Bedtime Stories For Grownups To Tell), wrote two original children's books and was responsible for the story content as part of a trio of collaborators who were approached by the Teddy Share company to create an expansion of their brand for children's books and toys with the possibility of an animated series. Recently, I've been collaborating with veteran character actress Susan Ruttan (LA Law) on an animated series for children. And, from time to time, I write and perform cameo bits in the Walsh Brothers Show at the UCB Theatre.
