About
My life before photography revolved around rehearsals, choreography sessions, and years of training as an elite level gymnast. After my athletic career ended, my dancer inside still lived on as a Las Vegas Showgirl. Through these years of countless hours training I have come to instinctively know whether or not the lines of the subjects body is going to look the very best it can look just by a quick visual. Shadowing, depth of field, fabric draping and such is used as illusions or distractions, further aiding in the creation of a naturally flowing aesthetic. I start each booked shoot with a personal session where I take the time to ask all the right questions. And most important... I listen to what you are telling me. I listen to what your insecurities are. To the reasons why you are having your photographs taken. Your desired outcome. Even how you plan on displaying your works of art. This is more than just my business. This is my way of fueling the creativity of every person who hires Deborah Berard Photography; One fierce photograph at a time. Most of us have not been in front of the camera since our high school year book pics. And until you start your venture out into the world, hiring a professional photographer to capture those milestones in your life is usually not something that people think about. By the time people book their session with me they are nervous, apprehensive, and somewhat unsure just why they decided to do it. We LOVE those feelings!!! Because we feel them also each and every time a new client trusts us with their memories. But those feelings are real, and palatable. They let us know that we are living and that there are things that still make us giddy and silly acting. Watching a couple in love, a soon to be new bride taking the first real steps in her gown with bridal portraits, a mother to be, a top model, or a liberated woman taking boudoir images as an anniversary surprise. Every part of what I do is amazing, and I could never list what I like most about it because it's all just too much fun!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking to hire a Professional Photographer please keep in mind this simple fact; Expensive equipment does not make for an amazing photograph. Just like a top end stove does not make for a great chef. Todays digital cameras are an amazing feat of technology which gives even the weekend hobbyist the ability to capture beautiful images. What takes those average images and turns them into works of art is the artistic abilities of that photographer. No longer can they rely solely on their equipment. Composition, lighting, depth of field visuals, props, post processing skills; All of these come into play, taking a photographer from hobbyist to true professional. Photography is a personal tribute to life's moments. When trusting someone with those moments, trust more than a photographer... trust an artist.
