Introduction: My clients tell me that they feel relaxed around me and that I have a calming effect which makes them feel good about themselves during our shoot and helps reduce their nerves when entering the shoot. When my clients feel relaxed, authentic expressions open up and we come away with great images showing genuine gestures, not contrived poses. Two things: 1) I truly enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and learning what it is that they want to get out of our photo shoot and working together to create that look 2) That moment when I am reviewing the final set of images and that one photo just pops off the screen and I instantly feel that surge of excitement knowing that this is THE shot- the one that made the entire shoot worth it and that I keep coming back to because I just want to look at it again and again.

We recently hired Steven to take photos at our event in our home, and Steven suggested some additional photos beforehand at his studio. The resulting photos are incredible: as another Yelp reviewer wrote, Steven has a gift for photography, and it shows in both his demeanor and his photos. Steven really captured both the joy of our event through the candid shots as well as the more intimate, private moments at his studio. Also, at our event, Steven was able to get great photos while managing to remain unobtrusive during the ceremony - not an easy task in such a small, enclosed space! Afterwards, Steven delighted all the kids who wanted to look through his camera lens and even let them take a few photos! We will definitely look forward to future events with Steven as our family photographer, and I would gladly recommend him to anyone.

What an amazing shoot! From start to finish I had a great experience working with Steven, from the booking process on I received clear communication, and all of my expectations were exceeded. When working one on one with a photographer, it is vastly important to feel comfortable from the start, especially when it comes to getting the right shot for your specific needs. Steven was very laid back and personable, while maintaining a very professional demeanor at the same time- I never once felt awkward or uncomfortable, which really made a difference in the shots that we were able to get. Not only did Steven utilize different lighting techniques, but he is great when it comes to directing the shoot, and getting you in the perfect angle to work in tandem with that lighting. I had fun and I got great shots, with a quick turn around time! HIRE THIS MAN!

My experiences with Steven have been superb from beginning to end. We've previously hired him to do family photos, as well as photos for our son's second birthday party. More recently, I needed head shots for a variety of professional purposes. Steven was responsive and flexible in terms of scheduling, planned well for the shoot and provided me with useful information about clothing, etc. His studio was well-equipped and he was ready to go when I arrived. We spent time talking about my goals and how the photos would be used and he was adept at working with my discomfort and aversion to being photographed. The end product was better than I ever expected and he, once again, was flexible and accommodating in terms of making sure that I was completely satisfied with the photographs. He went so far as to look at the photos after they were posted publicly and made adjustments that he thought would improve the quality and impact. I can't rate him highly enough. Thank you Steven!

Steven and I spent an afternoon together to photograph my paintings and I'm VERY happy with the results. I gave him a very challenging set to start with- the surface of which had a high gloss sheen which reflected everything. I was extremely impressed by his creative solutions to minimize the glare and his patience with the amount of time it took to get the lighting and color just right. On a personal level, I also just really enjoyed working with him and will definitely work with him again.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Flat fee is about as basic as it gets! I charge a single fee for the shooting session, the editing time and delivery of the high resolution images. I find it a more simply and straight forward approach that people appreciate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Of course! I enjoy viewing other photographer's images to think about what others are doing in the field, I am always watching online tutorials on technique and I attend classes through local educational outlets to meet and learn from those within my vocation.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My previous vocation was in the software industry and my role was to implement software on site at client locations throughout the US and Asia. While there certainly was an intellectual and analytical side to the work, I realized two things: 1) the most gratifying moments were those in which I connected with my clients and I felt like I was helping make their work lives easier. 2) I was always bringing my camera with me on all my trips and either arriving early or staying after a project to explore the area and capture travel photography. While I felt that staying within the software industry would be a safe and secure move, I felt that I was slowly withering away and before I completely turning into a dried out plum pit, I made the break to pursue photography full time and I haven't looked back since!
