FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I now listen only to POP/HIP radio stations because those genres are the most requested and are constantly changing, so I must be prepared. I also review Billboard top requests for updates, as well as for other genreÃÂs such as country.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had my own personal upscale karaoke machine, and was asked if I would bring my machine to a party in order to create some entertainment. Through word of mouth, I began to get more and more requests, and was offered payment for the service. The next thing I knew, I was being asked to provide DJ services, which required a major investment. As the popularity of what I could do continued to rise, I realized that there was a demand for my service, and since it was something that I truly enjoyed, the decision to become professional was an easy one.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We recently hosted a karaoke/dance party for a community, and although they do really love to sing (in groups), they have difficulty in knowing which songs to select. We therefore selected some songs for them, and as usual, there were more singers than mics on stage, so they shared them. Meanwhile, there was a group of dancers who also liked our song selections, and would organize some line dancing to the songs that the singers were performing. The entire room was involved, and for us, it was awesome. We also booked 3 more jobs before the night was over.
