Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Two areas stand out- my honesty and thoroughness. I do not lie about good or bad cases, and make sure my clients understand everything about their situation before making a decision. I review every document personally- times, dates, locations, etc. Often, small mistakes can lead to big, beneficial results. I won't push a case to trial just to bump my numbers. But if there is an issue, I will explore it with my client and make sure their decision is informed. I may not always win, but make sure my clients have no regrets. Helping good people through bad times. DUI are difficult, unique criminal charges in that no one intends to commit. Regardless of the charge, criminal defense is very fact specific and close to both rules of evidence and common sense- there few games that can be found (unlike civil litigation). However, being smart, diligent, and nimble often results in positive outcomes for my clients. Since I used to prosecute, I like educating my clients on the legal process and why I can keep us one step ahead of the other side. In the end, a positive review and satisfied client is its own reward.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It is very important to sit down with your attorney and ask very basic, thorough questions. What do I get for my fee? Will I be able to talk with you after retention, or will I be relegated to a paralegal, associate attorney, or case manager? What do you consider a "win" for a DUI? What is the weakest and strongest points of my case?

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

That it is very rewarding, and very hard work. Each case must be treated like an end within itself, and each case deserves thorough examination of all discovery (prosecutorial documents they must disclose)- including discovery other attorneys may not be aware of. The glamorous life of an attorney is a myth. Senior attorneys that I admire say the same thing, "this job would be easy if I didn't do it right." Too many DUI and criminal defense attorneys do not do it right, and they are missing out on a very rewarding career.
