Introduction: I am first and foremost a teacher. I base my teaching in a foundation of pedagogy and the basics of healthy vocal production. Regardless of the genre(s) you live in, we will find your healthiest voice.
I'm a teacher who loves to learn, both through literature and my students. I tailor my lessons to what works best for each individual student's learning style.
Secondly, I coach. The coaching comes second nature and somewhat unintentionally because I am a performer and truly believe that understanding text, meaning and objectives go hand in hand with great music making.
A bit more about me:
A few years ago, I fought my way back from vocal trauma to eventually landing the role of Joanne in RENT, which I played in the national tour for about a year. It was so enlightening to go from thinking my voice was invincible to not speaking for 6 months. That journey affirmed the importance of vocal health in me and sharing that knowledge so that others might avoid vocal trauma. That is why I work from a place of love and encouragement. Your growth as a vocalist becomes a partnership -- not just me throwing a bunch of scales at you and calling it a day.
I've taught students who had never sung before, students who had been told they could never sing, students who just wanted to strengthen one more discipline as performers, professional soloists, choral performers, college students, public speakers, etc.
I don't just listen when you sing; I listen when you talk. I teach overall healthy vocal production, so even if you have a goal of just speaking easier and healthier I can work for you.
My own vocal disciplines include basic vocal fundamentals learned from vocal pedagogs/teachers and genres and styles including Opera, a wide range of choral styles, Broadway legit/belting, jazz, soul and R & B, country, and pop.
We'll go over pricing and scheduling and get started on the road to your healthiest, most beautiful voice! I teach at my apartment, or I can come to you, provided you have a piano.
