Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: In a fitness world where there seems to be a new piece of equipment being advertised everyday, sometimes it's forgotten that we all own the most important piece of equipment already, our body. While lifting up a dumbbell or getting on a treadmill has never hurt anyone, I believe that the only thing that is truly needed for a impactful workout session is yourself. When I show up for work in the morning, it doesn't really feel like work at all. I'm in comfortable clothes and my clients really do all the work. I get to help people set goals and aid them in trying to achieve those goals. It's a rewarding feeling to be part of the process of somebody trying to better themselves. We should all be so lucky.

Tim is great! He helped me get back to my prepregnancy weight. He makes working out fun and challenges me with each session.

And while I went along and decided to teach myself how to live a healthy lifestyle, I thought it was selfish of myself to not share my knowledge with others who were not as lucky to be as self-motivated as I. I've always felt that I have the ability to be a good leader, so becoming a personal trainer was a good fit.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

You need to work with someone you feel comfortable with. Sure, the trainer is there to push you because exercise is work, and we all need a little help with motivation at times, but a workout should be enjoyable as well. When the workout is finished, there should be a sense of accomplishment and a feeling like their time and money was well spent. If the customer isn't getting this feeling from time to time, they are working with the wrong person. The

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

That all fitness professionals had a starting point of their own. It can be a little demoralizing to the customer when the trainer performs a task fairly easily, but then he/she has a difficult time replicating that action. What the customer needs to realize though is that at one time, the trainer struggled with those same things. It's only through practice and education that we excel at of our craft.
