Introduction: Dr. K Advanced Learning Academy has been in business of Mathematics /Science Instruction and Education Consulting for more than seven years. Professionally specialized in Mathematics instruction and tutoring, we cover Mathematics at all levels from Pre-school to College level advanced Mathematics courses. Examples of courses are Basic Math, Arithmetic, Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Differential and Integral Calculus, Statistics, Discrete Mathematics... We also offer standardized tests preparation (SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, etc.) In addition to tutoring various subjects, our abilities to link ideas from various disciplines make it possible for us to properly guide learners through inter-curricular projects. Working during the past few years as California Credentialed Teacher enabled us to design appropriate lessons for supplemental education. We are as aptly comfortable with working to remedy to skills gap, as providing homework support and preparing for test taking. As a bonus, being bilingual (French/English with French as first language) has allowed us to help some students to start and hold communication in French, sometimes while earning school credit in French class. In some situations, we use our prior competencies in Computer and Information Technology training to enhance the exploratory experience of our customers. We pride ourselves at being very effective in coaching learners not only to get better grades but also to really strive to understand the subject matter and the reasons why things work the way they do. Our engaging style is in every way positive, supportive, and also fun. We explain difficult math and science concepts in simple English and continue working with the students until the concepts are mastered. All our students experience improvement in their grades, while taking advantage of advice on test-taking strategies and study skills development, which usually lessen anxiety and stress during the learning process.

Dr. K is an outstanding and phenomenal tutor and teacher who inspires and encourages his students. He has in depth knowledge about various math subjects; and his ability to explain topics in different ways to ensure that people understand has never stopped to amaze me. He is very patient and is willing to go an extra mile to see his students do well. I remember a time when I was struggling with "series" and "derivatives" in Calculus; Dr. K broke things down into easy to follow steps, thus endowing me with the tools to complete the assignments. During that session, he asked me questions that allowed me to assess both my learned concepts and my lacking about these topics. His sheer dedication made me believe that I would be able to understand the materials. With that said, I would highly recommend Dr. K, as he does not only tailor his teaching style to people's needs, but most importantly he creates a fun environment for the students to learn.

Dr. Calvin Kiomegne and I worked together as part of Journey to University Mentorship Program (JUMP) , an after-school program for students K-5 in San Francisco, from late fall 2013 to early spring 2014. What impressed me about Dr. Kiomegne was that he was able to work across the age groups equally well, that he was able to break down math concepts to meet a variety of learning styles and language differences, and that he also was able to switch gears and be as much fun with the children as he was an excellent tutor. I have learned that there are not many people with doctorates who will "condescend" to work with little kids, but Dr. Kiomegne was on time and eager to work with all the little ones at JUMP. He was just as adept and engaged in teaching counting to the kindergarteners as he was teaching fractions to the fourth-graders, with the firmness and patience of a loving father. In addition, Dr. Kiomegne had to work with students with varying levels of English proficiency and varying levels of being able to engage with written materials in any language. Some students learn better with visual examples, or through activities. Dr. Kiomegne was equal to the task of varying his examples and study strategies to meet the needs of all the children. Finally, when it was time for recess, Dr. Kiomegne was able to get out on the playground and just enjoy being with the kids as they were kids, playing and enjoying along with them. This endeared him to everyone. In closing, I very much valued Dr. Kiomegne's skills in working with all ages and learning levels at JUMP, and also his ability to enjoy play time with the kids as well. He was a very valuable team member at JUMP, and I wholeheartedly recommend him.

October 21, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: Calvin S. Kiomegne has been a volunteer here at the Western Addition Community Technology Center since December 2009. We are located in the San Francisco Western Addition Neighborhood, particularly the Fillmore District. San Francisco's African American community has suffered from crime, poverty and low expectations to succeed in academics. The Western Addition Community Technology Center was established to bridge the digital divide and has offered training to all aged groups. We have given special attention to those students needing additional classroom work support. Like many nonprofit organizations with this focus on youth, attracting talented volunteers is one of the keys to our success. Calvin has more than satisfied all expectations needed in this endeavor. Many of the students of this community were not achieving the success necessary to advance to more than a service base employment opportunity. Calvin's ability to make complex math and science details easy to understand and retain has led to a significant number of students from this community to enjoy learning math from pre-algebra through calculus beyond their own expectations. Their new found love for solving complex equations has given them the ability to achieve success in their classes. From my personal observation, I believe that Calvin has demonstrated proper academic coaching of youth in this high need student population. Our pricing is very competitive and varies depending of the specific service. Also, the commute distance to the client may be taken into consideration in some cases. For mathematics, the pricing is based on grade levels and the types of mathematics topics as well.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After being hired as instructor or tutor, the first session - unless altered by the client - consists of an assessment lesson during which we put our best efforts towards understanding the specific needs of the learner we would be coaching. It is usually followed by an educational consulting moment during which we advise the client about what it would take to help her/him reach her/his goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Have gotten many years of professional development in Mathematics/Computer Science/Information Technology, through scholastic endeavors, professional seminars, teaching Mathematics and Sciences with diverse academic organizations.
