- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One of my most memorable success stories, was working with a 4th grade student, who had been struggling since 2nd grade with reading. Initially, teachers and parents thought is was simply a matter of focus. However, I continued to hear the student spell words with letters that were not sounded out in the word. After conducting additional assessment, I verified that the student was Dyslexic with Auditory Processing Disorders. Since the student could not learn to read using Phonics 'sounds', we used tactile methods, and the Davis Method for Dyslexia. We were very successful, he learned how to reorient himself when he was reading alone or at school, using the Davis Method. I was very proud of him! He did all the work, I merely had the pleasure of seeing him succeed!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I take an individual approach to each and every student, we all learn differntly. I am very personable, and do excellent with children or teenagers. A tutor has the special opportunity to build a relationship with a student, that other educators do not have. Building trust, and sharing respect is what makes learning and experience, not a chore.
