Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask them if they offer any type of money back guarantee. Companies like Sylvan learning center talk the talk, but when you ask them for a "money-back guarantee" watch them squirm. They say you will get a 5, but won't put their money where their mouth is!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I was a University teacher for many years. I have been teaching High School Math for MANY years in China. I recently took part in AP Calculus training through the College Board for learning how the exams are scored. Lots of interesting tidbits.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What percent of your students get a 5? What about the students who did not get a 5, why not? What do you do to make sure the students get a 5?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I offer a FULL refund if you do not get a 5 on the AP Calculus Exam. Try asking Sylvan or any other training company if they will offer a FULL refund and watch them STUTTER!!!

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Last year, the school I worked at started offering the AP program for its first year. Every one of my students got a 5 with the following 2 exceptions. One student broke his leg and missed 2.5 months of class. Two students didn't have the prerequisites for the class but wanted to take it anyway. Those 3 students got a 4, otherwise the rest got a 5. My boss was VERY happy.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes, the college board offers training for teachers. This past summer, I went to Beijing, China for a week and took a class from one of the AP graders. I learned lots of information about what they are looking for in an answer, and how they score the tests.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. I charge $1200 for a full year (AP Calculus AB) class. $1400 for a full year (AP Calculus BC) class.
I require a FREE diagnostic exam to make sure you are prepared for the class.

I charge $750 for a 4 month brush up AP Calculus AB class. The cost is $900 for a 4 month brush up AP Calculus BC class.
I require a diagnostic exam in two parts - one you take on your own and one over the phone to make sure you have had at least a half-year of Calculus and understand most of it. This is $300 - non-refundable.

For the classes, if you do not get a 5, then you will get FULL refund (a few requirements: You must attend all classes and do all homework)

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. Because I started teaching in 1990 and because I taught to many different levels of students, I have the ability to teach to any style of student. Whether they are brilliant and need a challenge or if they find math difficult and need extra tutoring. Also, because I am an EXPERT in this area of math, I am able to teach the same material in a few different ways so in case they don't understand one way, then they hopefully will understand it in a different way. I have lots of possible examples to give.
