Introduction: Academic needs of students are as distinct as their individual interests. As an educator in San Antonio, Texas and a volunteer English teacher in Israel, I adapted my practice on a student-by-student basis to ensure achievement of academic excellence and development of an intrinsic love and motivation for learning. I do this by building personal relationships with each student, allowing me to teach lessons in a way that is meaningful, fun, and engaging for them. Students I work with will not only make impressive academic gains, but will be challenged to see how what they learn in school is immediately relevant to their own lives. Education: St. Olaf College (B.A. political science, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies) University of Chicago (M.A. Political science) Licensed EC-6 Educator Results: During the 2014-2015 tutor year, all three of my 6th-9th grade students were admitted into Whitney Young and St. Ignatius. My ACT students grow an average of 5 composite points. As a fifth grade teacher, 100% of my students passed the state math, reading an science assessments. My students averaged 1.7 years of reading growth in nine months. Awards: In 2013, I was awarded the Rising Star Award for Excellence in Teaching by the San Antonio Independent School District. In 2014, I was a Sue Lehman Award Nominee in San Antonio, Texas.
