FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Various professional organizations such as the Music Teachers' Association of California, provide yearly conventions where world class artists not only perform but give master classes. We are exposed to all the latest teaching methods introduced by various publishers and teachers discuss and present their most promising students. Whitehead students find it rewarding to have been chosen for over 40 years to participate in these events.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Our family was always exposed and involved in classical music. When I was nine years old, Ivette Henandez, a concert pianist from Cuba stayed with my family while working with the famous concert pianist, Artur Rubenstein. She was a Steinway Artist and practiced five hours everyday. I was mesmerized by the beautiful sounds and after that would only listen to classical music on the radio. After that it was the right teacher who inspired me to express myself through music and make it my life. Teaching became a way to communicate and inspire the love of music in others.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I am past president and an active member of the Music Teachers' Assn. of California, vice-president of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival and Hollywood chair for the Southern California Junior Bach Festival.
