I hired my laronde back in the early 2000's when he had a practice in new bern nc. I paid him 1700 to handle a custody case. He sent one letter to my daughter's father and never worked it again. When I was finally able to reach him I was informed that he had received a phone call from a female stating she was me and didn't want to go through with it. so he closed my case and kept my money. I did file a grievance with the North Carolina Bar Association to be informed that he had closed his practice so they were unable to help me retrieve my money.
