Introduction: The thing I found most beautiful about my yoga practice was the ability to grow within the poses. I encourage students to try poses that are unfamiliar, or keep playing with poses that feel out of reach. It is important to have those goal poses in a yoga practice, they show you what you are working for, and when they are achieved it feels like magic. I love watching people find new sensations, develop a sensitivity to nerves and muscles that they may not have ever activated before, to isolate muscles that only ever worked in tandem with others. I find it exciting and gratifying to watch the look students get in their eyes when they discover something new.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am always practicing at new studios, with new teachers, taking workshops to deepen my practice, as well as reading and thinking about both yoga and anatomy.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I came to yoga through my art making practice. I wanted to make large cast metal sculpture. As a 4'11 person, I found was hurting all the time, trying to forge and weld and cast. I needed something to help me to get stronger, to help me recover, and to help me learn to use my body to its best advantage, get the best leverage for lifting and moving heavy objects. Yoga proved to be the best answer to my needs, and on top of that, was fascinating, intoxicating, and rejuvenating.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most often, I work with students one on one to build a practice that encompasses their limitations, and prepares them for goal poses.
